An
article published in the Norman Transcript on July 15 reads:
Jack Beller
and Juanita V. Murphy of Ada, OK were married in Reno, NV on August 2, 1942
both at the age of 19. At that time, Jack was a PFC in the US Army and on his
way to North Africa to serve as an Army MP on a WW II prison ship to guard
German prisoners who were captured by Patton’s Army and brought back to prison
camps in the USA. Juanita stayed in California and became a “Rosie-the-Riveter”
in the war effort until returning to Ada to await the end of the war. Over the years, they have stayed in close contact with
many old friends who still survive and served with them in the Army.
They had
Jack J. Beller in 1945 near the end of WW II and Rick D. Beller 2 years after
that. Both of their sons later became Orthopaedic Surgeons. Jack and his wife,
Ruth, are in Norman, OK and Rick and his wife, Lynne, are in Edmond, OK. They
have 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren with a sixth due in September.
Jack and
Juanita with their 2 sons lived in Midwest City, and both were civilian
employees at Tinker Air Force Base, Jack from 1951 and Juanita from 1957. They
both retired in 1978 and then “went home” retiring to a “gentleman/gentlewoman”
farm near Ada within a mile of where they grew up. They have lived there ever
since.
They attend
Center Freewill Baptist Church and are still active in supporting the youth
programs there.
